FAQ on buying Emmanuelle Stuff in General:

Pointers, she is usually indexed under her surname, Beart, but not always so watch out!   Also a lot of people misspell her first name, Emmanuel is a boys name!!!

A quick word on video formats (VHS) for you technophobes.

What does all this mean?  It means if you get the wrong fromat you can't see it/hear it! PAL and PAL B are I am told to an extent interchangable, and you can get adapters to alter the audio offset (or else you won't hear it).  Still try it at your own risk.  It also means film lengths vary, and copies between various formats are very poor quality.  Copying betwen formats can be done proffesionaly by a variety of methods ranging in price, but basicly you always lose something, I don't know of anywhere that does it but I know (because I edit videos on computer, Permiere 4.2 can do this easily) that it is possible to capture all the frames/fields then play them at  a diffrent speed (thus not losing frames as you do with all the other methods) change the ratio (digitaly, very little quality lost), then slow - speed up the sound and resync it.   Conventional methods are more like videoing the TV screen.  You are looking at about £30 a film by the way, unless you have a mate with one of these new multi format video players. (about £300).

Films will be in the Foreign Film, World Cinema, French Cinema or possibly Arthouse, section, almost certainly not with the normal videos (as these are more expensive).

Films should be indexed under the first proper word, not Une or Le or similar.   Almost all her french films use the french title even if they have english subtitles.  I have seen the tittle being changed in other European countires like Spain though.  In the UK we always keep the original name.  (Maybe for spain It's a bit like Richard III being Richard the Third in America, so they didn't ask to see 1 and 2 :-) ).

HMV and Virgin Megastores (also does mail order) stock most of her films, back to about 1986, with some noteable exceptions such as Il Viaggio Di Captain Fracassa.  Basicly all the popular ones that are still in print, her early stuff needless to say is not, and some films in the filmography are almost certainly TV movies and thus not available on video.  If your local branch doesn't have it they can order it for you.  Usual price is £17.50 in both shops (foreign video price).

MVC can order video's from suppliers for you and are usually cheaper (about £15 if you get membership which is free).  They rarely stock them however.

Try your local video hire shops, many have a foreign section which will have at least her famous ones like Un Coeur en Hiver and Manon des Source.  They may also sell old hire video's if you ask them nicely, they are also often happy to order videos for you (some of them use Virgin now, you can get the catalogue yourself for about a fiver).

Still can't find anywhere?  Try the online then but remmber the format problems between diffrent contries.  I am still searching out video shops online, email me any you know.
